Me on Specs now

I finally after painfully trying to avoid spending any money managed to get my specs. I have been dragging my feet on the issue - hoping a miracle would happen such that I won't need the specs. But I noticed the condition was worsening when I couldn't what appears on the TV screen or when in class I have to lean over and ask the person next to what was on the board. In most cases it was a foreign student who was also having trouble getting the English right!
I mean so far I feel uneasy putting them on - I know I have to relax and eventually I will get used to them.

But the effect on my monthly budget has been painful.
Why is it that the frames are more expensive than the lenses yet the lenses are actually what we need? And even worse these shops have some beautiful young ladies to serve you. First, she had nice frames (or should I say expensive?) but they go for £180! - clearly that's not for me. It was excruciating - I mean the process of making a choice - but she was helpful.
I spent £130 for everything quite substantial that is after getting £50 discount.
By the way I try to avoid sales people (well, actually especially ladies) - they have a way of making buy what I might not need) A scenario that is still fresh in my memory happened many years ago when I was sent to Uchumi to do part of our monthly shopping. I was of course given a list by my mum and everything was going on well till I reached the toothpaste section and there was this young lady promoting a new toothpaste. She knew it would be easy to convince me - to cut the long story short I ended up buying the new product and went home to try and convince everyone that Close-up was not in stock!
